"Shelter" - darkDARK

Sounds like:

Something straight out of the Upside Down

Why you should care:

Because you’re still a bit obsessed with the 80s, admit it

Production duo darkDARK is set to make their debut with the EP Heathered, which they’re releasing independently on February 24. But to tide us over, the group has released “Shelter”, a song that comes from the dark electronic depths that also brought us musicians like S U R V I V E and Zola Jesus.

Zola Jesus @ Black Cat - 1/29/15

On Thursday night Zola Jesus came to the Black Cat on her second Washington, DC stop in support of her 2014 album Taiga. In a set that largely mirrored her performance at the Hirshhorn Museum last October (eleven of the fourteen songs on the set list were the same, drawn primarily from the recent album), she alternated between torch singer-like crooning and wildly thrashing about the stage as if in convulsions. Her band was a bit more stripped down this time, with a single trombone replacing the horn section of the previous show, yet had no problem recreating the intensity of the album.
